Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

Maths Week Australia is an initiative of The Maths Collective Pty Ltd (ABN 90 642 902 403), trading as Maths Teacher Circles. This policy explains how we handle personal information at mathsweek.au and in connection with the Maths Week Australia event.

We have adopted the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), which govern how we collect, use, disclose, store and dispose of personal information. A copy of the principles is available from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

What we collect and why

When you register for Maths Week Australia or subscribe to our emails, we collect your name and email address. We use this to register you for the event, send you resources and joining details, and understand who is taking part so we can improve what we offer. Registering or downloading a resource opts you in to emails about the event and our wider work in maths education. Every one includes an unsubscribe link, and we’ll action your request promptly. Unsubscribing won’t stop essential messages like your joining link or a receipt.

If you purchase resources or services from us, we also collect your billing details and keep a record of your purchase. We never see or store your full card number — that is handled entirely by our payment provider.

Our website uses cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site may not work properly if you do.

We don’t generally collect sensitive information. If we ever ask for it — accessibility requirements, for instance — it will be optional and we’ll tell you why we’re asking.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell, rent or trade your information, and we don’t give registrant contact details to sponsors, supporters or partners.

We use a range of service providers to run the event, including host the website, send emails and manage payments. Service providers can only use your information to provide their service to us. Most are based in the United States, and some in the European Union, so your information is stored and processed overseas. We take reasonable steps to check that providers handle information appropriately. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to prevent a serious threat to someone’s safety.

Keeping your information safe

We store your information in the systems above, limit access to those who need it, and use strong passwords and multi-factor authentication. No online system is completely secure, but we take this seriously. If a breach occurs that’s likely to cause serious harm, we’ll tell those affected.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask us what we hold about you, get a copy, have it corrected, or have it deleted where we’re not required to keep it. Email info@mathsweek.au and we’ll respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity first. You can change your email preferences yourself using the link in any email we send.

We take reasonable steps to keep your information accurate and up to dat. If something’s wrong, please tell us.

If you think we’ve mishandled your information, email info@mathsweek.au and we’ll acknowledge it within 5 business days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always at mathsweek.au/privacy.
